Clean the bite area and your hands. Do not twist, crush, burn, or cover the tick with petroleum jelly.

If mouthparts remain and you cannot remove them easily, let the skin heal while monitoring for symptoms. Contact a healthcare professional if illness develops.

Seek urgent care for severe or neurological symptoms.
