Disease patterns vary by region and tick species. The lone star tick (Amblyomma americanum) can be associated with ehrlichiosis, tularemia caused by Francisella tularensis, STARI, and alpha-gal syndrome.
The American dog tick (Dermacentor variabilis) can transmit RMSF and tularemia. The Rocky Mountain wood tick can transmit Colorado tick fever and cause tick paralysis.
