Ever pictured yourself riding on top of a giraffe, its neck towering into the sky? It sounds wild—maybe even fun—but honestly, the reality is packed with problems around anatomy, safety, and animal welfare. You just can’t safely or ethically ride a full-grown giraffe like you would a horse. If you keep reading, you’ll see why…
You might expect a huge roar or a charge, but giraffes show anger in quieter, more physical ways. When males clash over mates or territory, they “neck”—swinging their heavy heads and striking with their necks and ossicones. Giraffes can land powerful blows that decide who’s in charge, and those fights look brutal, even though serious…
Maybe you’ve come across a video or story where two male giraffes mount each other and wondered—does that actually count as mating? Let’s jump into five quick, surprising facts about giraffes you can pull out at your next trivia night. You might think giraffes never lie down, but actually, they do—just not for long and not very often. Giraffes sleep standing up most of the time, but sometimes they tuck their legs under and lie down for quick, vulnerable naps if they feel safe. Most of their sleep happens while standing. Giraffes squeeze in short…
