The highway rats want fishy waste or fish waste, depending on your playthrough’s clue. Place the barrel near the highway rats by the sewer grates on the west side of town.
Barbara’s fish stick operation provides waste barrels tied to your purchases. Save one barrel for the rats instead of dumping it immediately at the recycling center.
Farm Rats: Oats, Apple, And Fishy Sticks
The farm rats want a bag of oats, an apple, and fish sticks. Their spot is near the red barn in the farm area, right by the food dish.
These three items match the oatmeal-related clue around Karl’s farm. You need to offer them separately, placing each item one at a time.
Harbor Rats: Pink Dollhouse
The harbor rats want a pink dollhouse. You find them near the shipping container and the harbor area, close to the ocean-facing pier.
Barbara’s clue points you toward a tiny home or furniture, and the answer is the pink dollhouse sold at Antics Antiques. Check the shop inventory regularly, since the item may not always be in stock.

Ted And The Recycling Center Clue
Talk to Ted near the recycling center before giving the rats cheese. He confirms you are dealing with the first rat group.

The later locations near the forest and some endgame steps stay locked until Chapter 3. If a rat group or sewer grate seems unavailable, story progress is usually the reason.
Trade Deals, Sheep Cheese, And Karl’s Farm Progress
